In this chapter, we looked at a few open source data binding tools currently available and compared them using the same purchase order application. As we can see, these tools have their own advantages and disadvantages. It does not look likely at this moment that any one of these tools will become dominant in the near future. Instead, these tools can be most effective when they fit the specific needs of your application. Data binding technologies are still in their infancy, and we can expect a lot of advances in this field—more flexible mapping, support for nonisomorphic data structures such as tables and graphs, increased performance, and standardization, to name a few.
