This book is the result of several years of work. Not just my personal work (although writing this book has involved some late nights), but also the hard work and many person years of effort by Microsoft's .NET Framework and XML messaging teams. Several other companies and talented individuals, such as Sam Ruby from IBM, have also been critical in taking this technology to the public.
One of the fundamental design goals of ADO.NET and the classes from the System.Xml namespaces is to give the developer complete control over how data is accessed and used. In designing ADO.NET, Microsoft concentrated on providing the right core building blocks by factoring functionality into discrete, optimized objects, with the idea that classes could be built in later versions that use these building blocks to make common tasks easier.
This book is intended for anyone building applications using the .NET Framework. It is meant to be a dictionary-style reference to the core types in the Framework.
MCAD/MCSD .NET Training Guide: Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Visual C# .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework is designed for developers who are pursuing the Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) or Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft .NET certifications. This book covers the Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Visual C# .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework exam (70-320), which is a core exam for both of those certifications. The exam is designed to measure your skill in developing and implementing middle-tier components, server components, and XML Web services by using Visual Studio .NET, Microsoft .NET Framework, and the Visual C# .NET programming language.
This book tries to put into one place all the information you need to succeed using VSTO to program against Word 2003, Excel 2003, Outlook 2003, and InfoPath 2003. It introduces the Office object models and covers the most commonly used objects in those object models. In addition, this book will help you avoid some pitfalls that result from the COM origins of the Office object models.
It is difficult to get a consistent answer from different people on what WCF is. To the web service developer, it is the ultimate interoperability solution, an implementation of a long list of industry standards. To the distributed application developer, it is the easiest way of making remote calls and even queued calls.

This book provides a framework for making design decisions and a technical vocabulary for discussing domain design. It is a synthesis of widely accepted best practices along with my own insights and experiences. Software development teams facing complex domains can use this framework to approach domain-driven design systematically.
In fact, the .NET developer community has embraced Windows Forms to a degree that defies the early .NET focus on web-based applications. Based on talking to my friends in the training industry and on the sales of the first edition of this book, I conclude that a large and growing number of developers write Windows Forms applications. It's for those developers that we've written this book.
Microsoft Visual C# 2005 includes several enhancements to earlier versions of the language. If you want to learn the new features of the language, Programming Microsoft Visual C# 2005: The Language offers detailed explanations of each improvement. One of the most awaited additions to the .NET environment is generics. Other additions include anonymous methods, static classes, and new classes that affect garbage collection. This book introduces these new features, provides context, and displays sample code.
With Microsoft's introduction of the .NET platform, a new, exciting programming language was born. Visual C# is now the language of choice for developing on the .NET platform, and Microsoft has even written a majority of the .NET Framework using Visual C#.
The release of Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio Team Systems marks a major revision to the .NET development experience. The languages have many improvements, the Framework has a number of additions, but most of all, the tools have been significantly enhanced.
For developers experienced with Microsoft or Java platforms who want to program with the .NET Framework and CLR, this book looks at the underlying platform commonalities developers can use, regardless of language choice or development tools.
Developing early mobile applications was frustrating and challenging. With the Mobile Internet Toolkit, we can spend a fraction of the time it once took to produce an application and then immediately access it from a wide variety of browsers, including those that support HTML, cHTML, and WML. Now how cool is that?
Exam Cram 2 books help you understand and appreciate the subjects and materials you need to pass Microsoft certification exams. These books are aimed strictly at test preparation and review; they do not teach you everything you need to know about a topic. Instead, we present and dissect the questions and problems you're likely to encounter on a test.
Obviously, if you are a C# programmer who is interested in creating network programs, this book is specifically intended to help you out. I’ve described each network C# class in detail, and you’ll find lots of examples to help you implement the classes in your own work. If you have never before written a network program, I’ve included useful explanations of the concepts and ideas behind network programming in general, including common techniques for passing data between network devices.
